In 2013 The Netherlands will be the first smart roads

An interesting and very ambitious project presented the Dutch design studio Roosegaarde together with Heijmans. This concept called Smart Highway (intelligent highway) in 2013 translated into reality in the form of a few hundred kilometers of roads in the province of interactive Brabant, Netherlands. The assurances of the authors, these "smart" highways are much more functional, more comfortable, safer and more environmentally advanced trails.

First of all, Smart Highway will contain a special dedicated bandwidth for electric vehicles, including the possibility of a contactless recharging your batteries. Also, the project will make the roads more informative to avoid accidents related to the weather. For example, a special fluorescent dye will be applied markings and special symbols that appear only under certain weather conditions (eg, low or high temperature). This will help the driver to not only learn the ropes in the dark, but also to distinguish between areas of ice (which would show up on the road beautiful snowflakes). Paint "charged" from sunlight and can light up ten hours.

Coverage of these tracks will be much more expedient and economical with the so-called "wind-Lantern" and motion sensors. Lights will transform energy and included only when approaching the car, saving resources.

Concept Smart Highway won the Dutch prize Dutch Design Award in the "Best Idea for the future.
